One of the most common supplements used today is whey protein. So to keep this simple, whey protein helps you build muscle.

I personally have been supplementing on and off with it for years. My personal favorite brand is Optimum Nutrition whey protein. I have only tried chocolate flavors but they have tons of flavors to choose from, you can purchase it on Bodybuilding.com

I have found this supplement to be helpful when doing most any type of lifting exercises. It is also a nice break from drinking water all the time and allows for some diversity, there are so many brands and flavors available now a days it is near impossible to find one you will dislike. I strongly suggest not purchasing the cheap brands found at Walmart as you get what you pay for and the taste is terrible last I remember.
